GREEN ROOF TYPES
Green roofs
can be both ornamental gardens and edible roofs with more
naturalistic plantings or self-established vegetation.
Green roofs
consist of intensive, simple intensive, and extensive planting systems.
THE INTENSIVE GREEN ROOF
Is closest
to what is known as a roof garden. It has the appearance of a garden or
park that you would see at ground level. Because of the amount of weight needed
for a growing medium, plants, water, and visitors, these gardens are usually
constructed over reinforced concrete decks.
SIMPLE
INTENSIVE GREEN ROOF
The second type is an intensive green roof. This roof is vegetated with lawns or
ground covering plants, and requires regular maintenance, including irrigation,
feeding and cutting.
This roof is more affordable and a possible choice for retrofit green roofs because it
requires less building structure. It is, however, more complex than extensive green
roofs.
These roofs are
usually not meant to be accessible but The simple intensive green roof is often
designed to be overlooked. (University of Rwanda

BENEFITS
●
The temperature inside the building stays cooler,
saving energy on air-conditioning.
●
In winter the building stays warmer, conserving energy
on heating.
●
Reduces internal & external noise
●
Green roofs can increase the area available for leisure,
recreation or wildlife
EXTENSIVE GREEN ROOF
The extensive green roof is the third form. This variety is typically not irrigated and requires little upkeep.
The deep planting media (low weight, occasionally soil-less) on the extensive roof helps to reduce the expense and structural stress on the roof. Hardy, low-growing plants that can withstand drought, such as succulents, herbs, and grasses, must be included in the plant choices. Only maintenance would require access to this roof.
OUR NATURE A multifaceted Urban-Agri business with British ownership, Green Staples Collective Ltd. focuses on decentralized farming technologies through the production of superfoods and microgreens. Our goal is to lead the way in environmentally responsible living. About both our environment and our people, we continually try to be proactive.
We engage predominately with ‘Green’ ethical companies and green innovations to improve a better sustainable life for all.
Green Staples Collective Ltd, commonly known as GSC, seeks to advance sustainable and effective urban farming techniques to develop edible cities that can produce nutrient-dense food without depleting natural resources or raising issues of lack.
. The organization has a range of
initiatives to achieve this goal:
Identifying food-insecure
individuals and groups in regions with limited access to water and space and
inadequate mineral concentrations in their diet, to provide them with fresh
vegetables and educate them on nutrition.
OUR AMBITIONS
GSC's Urban agriculture practices are aimed at cultivating, processing, and supplying
sustainable healthy, and nutritious foods such as micro-vegetables, infused honey, fruits,
and herbs. We promote microgreens because they are known to be up to 40% higher in
nutrients, fiber, vitamins, and minerals than their adult counterparts, making them an
excellent source of nutrition for individuals and communities. Our focus is on promoting
local food production, to reduce the reliance on imported food and create more self-
sufficient communities. By incorporating Urban farming practices, we aim to provide a
the stable food supply that is not only healthy but also environmentally sustainable.
